What is Hybrid treatment?

There are vast biomechanical differences between the use of braces and clear aligners. Some movements, such as extrusion or rotations can be more effectively controlled with braces. Some treatments, such as jaw expansion, are best accomplished with fixed appliances. Other movements, such as pushing movements or intrusion can effectively and predictably be treated with aligners. We understand that some individuals may be deterred by the thought of using braces, and have even had a consultation with an Orthodontist who told them that clear aligner treatment is not possible. For more complex and difficult conditions, we can custom design a treatment plan that accelerates the treatment with a short (usually 4-8 month) initial period of braces, and then completes the treatment with clear aligners.
